Walk Through a Wedding Workshop | New Haven, Connecticut

Styled Shoot

You guys. Last week (well, I guess now it’s technically two weeks ago..) was a DREAM. COME. TRUE. I am still pinching myself to make sure it actually happened. Before I tell you about it, let me first back up a bit and explain why it was such a big deal for me.

9 months ago, I was sitting in my living room watching a webinar by Justin and Mary and that webinar single-handedly changed my life’s trajectory. That was the night I decided I was going to be a photographer, despite the fact that I had a million voices in my head telling me that I couldn’t.

That I didn’t know enough. That I wasn’t outgoing enough. That I’d never be appreciated.

Now back to last week. I was there in Connecticut. In their house. Soaking in 48 hours of the most valuable education I’ve ever received. Education that 9 months ago I never dreamed I’d have the opportunity to get. Justin and Mary have played a bigger role than they’ll ever know in shaping me as a photographer and last week took everything to a whole new level. There will never be enough thank you’s to express my gratitude to them. They are the kindest, most generous souls you’ll ever meet and an absolute honor to be around.

Phew. Ok. Let me dry my eyes for a second and get back to telling you about the trip. This workshop was packed FULL of lessons – everything from lighting to marketing. We’re talking two 12 hour days of learning here, folks. And tucked in between our sessions huddled in J&M’s cozy living room around the fireplace were two absolutely stunning styled shoots.

Pink and maroon and glitter and beaches and floral crowns…I was in heaven y’all!

I am so grateful for the time I was able to spend with Justin and Mary and I will forever cherish the friendships I formed and the lessons I learned. Bring on wedding season!
