One of the things that has surprised me the most since becoming a photographer is the incredible community of creatives that I have been blessed to meet. I always thought that the creative industry was cut-throat and lonely, but The Rising Tide Society has shown me that nothing could be further from the truth! And this anniversary session is proof of that!

Brittany and I met on Instagram through some of the shared hashtags that we both use. We interact daily and (I feel) have gotten to know each other pretty well for two people who live thousands of miles apart! Brittany is a wedding photographer based in Florida but she’s mentioned many times how Chicago is her favorite city.

And what better time to schedule a visit to your favorite city than in between your anniversary and your birthday?!

When Brittany messaged me to ask if I could shoot an anniversary session for them, I was beyond excited. It’s always an honor when another photographer asks you to take their pictures. I was even more excited as we started planning the session, since Brittany wanted to showcase our beautiful downtown architecture and the Bean.

We started our day just as the sun was coming up so we could avoid crowds. And even though the clouds were out in full force, we had a wonderful time. I absolutely LOVED the outfits Brittany chose. Keeping it classy and simple with black and grey by the bean and then adding a pop of color for our city shots. Isn’t her floral dress TO DIE FOR?! I’m so excited to share some highlights and can’t wait to finish up this gallery – so many new favorites!!
