9 Awesome Chicago Engagement Photo Locations

Client Resources

Planning on taking your engagement photos in Chicago? Well, first of all, good choice 🙂 And second, today I’m sharing some of my favorite spots for photos in the city!

Chicago Riverwalk

There are virtually endless options on the riverwalk, no one picture could truly sum up the ‘vibe’ of it. You can stay on the street level or go down to the river level for completely different views. The whole time you’re surrounded by pretty buildings and bridges, giving you so many wonderful backdrops to play with.

Wrigley Building

This one is a super popular spot with photographers for a reason. The views are fabulous. The light is gorgeous in the afternoon. And the way the colors bounce off the water and the buildings is just perfection.

Lakefront Beaches

If you want some great city views mixed with a beachy vibe, any number of the awesome beaches in the city are great options. For closer-up city views and slightly less beach, check out spots like Ohio Street or Oak Street Beaches. For more backed-up city views and more beach, you can’t go wrong with North Ave. Beach or Fullerton Beach. For more beach and nature with a glimpse of the skyline, Montrose Bird Sanctuary is a great option.

Union Station

This spot is incredibly elegant. The columns and neutral colors are stunning and timeless. Heads up: if you want to do part of your session indoors, you’ll need to get a permit.

Adler Planetarium

This spot is one of my favorite spots in the city for sweeping skyline views. It is absolutely magical. The closer to sunset, the better for this spot. The light here during the early afternoon hours is horrible unless it’s an overcast day.

Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park is a super fun location because it has everything all in one spot! You get beautiful views of the skyline plus the option for nature backdrops like tall grass, a pond, lush trees, etc. And, bonus, it has some covered structures which makes it a good spot on days when there’s a chance of some sprinkles.

Art Institute

This is probably my favorite indoor option in the downtown area. Yes, it will cost you the entrance fees, but there are SO many fun options in here. If you’re flexible, weekdays are my preferred option for shooting here as they tend to be less crowded.

Ambassador Hotel Rooftop

I mean, it doesn’t get much better than these rooftop views. Enough said!

Olive Park

I love this spot for engagement sessions! It has lovely views and isn’t far from some other fun locations.
