Romantic Summer Wedding at University of Chicago

I’ve been looking forward to Emmy and Andrea’s wedding for a full year after photographing a wedding for their friends Marcella & Alex! I could tell right away from our initial conversations that these two were such kind and wonderful souls and that their wedding was going to be a genuine representation of themselves and their relationship. They took inspiration from the venue and landed on a soft, garden-inspired palette for their romantic summer wedding at University of Chicago and it couldn’t have been more lovely! I absolutely love the way the misty greens, soft pinks and pops of blue look against the deep greens and rich wood tones of their venue.

The couple held their wedding at University of Chicago because it’s where they met. It’s always a beautiful thing to incorporate a location that holds so much significance and it doesn’t hurt that U Chicago is an absolute stunner of a campus 🙂 The Gothic architecture and lush greenery here is so gorgeous. It was the perfect complement to the flowy textures of Emmy’s dress and the garden feel of her bouquet. This campus truly has such a painterly, romantic aesthetic.

Emmy and Andreas also put so many personal touches into the day which I loved:

We stopped for a photo at the exact spot where the two of them met.
They wore the wedding bands that Emmy’s grandparents wore when they got married in Germany (where they lived as refugees from Lithuania during World War II).
They incorporated a traditional Lithuanian wedding cake (raguolis).
The flavors in the layers of their American cake were inspired by each of their heritages.
