It’s official. Anniversary sessions are the best! Not only do I get to celebrate with my couples on another year of marriage, but I also get to hang out with them again! It’s always such a bittersweet moment when I send out a wedding gallery because I know that means my short but wonderful time with that couple is officially over. So any excuse to spend another few hours with them makes me so so happy!
I can’t believe a full year has gone by since Hannah & Pat’s wedding last year! On the one hand it feels like just yesterday and on the other hand it feels like an eternity since I’ve seen them! Hannah and Pat are one of those couples that you just instantly connect with. They are so kind-hearted and generous and I feel so lucky to have been able to cross paths with them.
We had a very chilly fall day on our hands, but we gladly welcomed that compared to the monsoon that greeted us on their wedding day. Taking advantage of the soft glowy sunrise light in downtown Chicago, we walked around the river capturing some iconic spots. There’s a reason photographing by the river is one of my favorite things – there are endless opportunities for something new. And, in my opinion, this area perfectly showcases the unique “feel” of Chicago. And in true Pat Doyle form (I’m convinced he’s the most thoughtful person on the planet), he surprised his wife with a replica of her wedding bouquet. Yep. All the tears and heart eyes.
Hannah & Pat, it was so much fun seeing you again and I miss you already! Can’t wait to get this gallery in your hands! In the meantime, enjoy your sneak peeks 🙂

I love the idea of an anniversary session! And she even had a bouquet – that’s so lovely! What beautiful photos and memories.
